>>42143222Make a leap similar to BotW or Odyssey, which would probably take 4-6 years to complete. Big explorable region, post-game, features returning, yada yada yada. Big kicker is that 3D models and textures would all be overhauled and brought up to today’s home console standards, and a lot of the worst designs could in this process be redesigned. Lost designs such as megas, regionals, and gigas would be repurposed into other things, such as evolutions, alternate forms, whatever. Overhaul the system rather than just continuously tack shit on year after year (like how there are still leftovers from fucking Ruby and Sapphire present in Sword and Shield). Listen to feedback from Gens 1-8 and fix what can be fixed. Just, make a good god damn game, it isn’t that fucking hard (see: BotW and Odyssey).
During this gap, a smaller B team would work on bringing older games to the Switch. RBY, GSC, RSE, FRLG, for starters. Look at feedback and fix immediate issues, e.g. the level curve and Johto mon distribution in GSC. Add online battling/trading, and if time allows it, add new stuff, such as bringing in some beta Pokémon from those games and difficulty modes. You know, just polish the older games and add something nice for people who have already played them before. Doesn’t matter if they have to be psuedo remade. These fixes/additions would also allow potential future remakes to focus entirely on adding new content rather than having to worry about fixing the originals.
My biggest goal would be to eventually remove IVs and replace them with individual aesthetic changes, like Magikarps having different spot patterns, Feraligatrs coming in different shades of blue or Tauros having different numbers of tails. Look at the Gen IV gender differences leak for example, just based on personality value.
Also, I would fully distance the games from the anime, TCG, merchandising, and side games like Go. They can keep drawing from my games, but I won’t make stuff FOR them.
