I honestly don't agree with a lot of what he says. He gives box legends bad or middling reviews and I love most box legends, which most people do because they're designed to have mass appeal and be marketable. Like anyone with an opinion he likes to share, he's just a guy with a big mouth. You shouldn't let other peoples opinions sculpt your own, you should decide what you like and what you don't for yourself. I like Dialga and somebody else's review isn't going to change that. You shouldn't let other people's reviews change you either.

And you can't be an "Authority" on something that's an opinion. Opinions aren't facts.

Critics shouldn't be seen as authorities though. And a lot of them are up their own ass and don't recognize fun stuff, movie critics in particular just want stuff that makes them cry or appeals to their rather narrow fields of interest (World War 2 especially holocaust stuff, homosexual drama, angry middle-aged women, and Queen Elizabeth's). If you're at the movies for escapist fun times and just want to be happy for a couple hours the critics are mostly useless.

Roger Ebert was one of the only ones I could respect, actually. He looked at "What is this film trying to accomplish" and "Does it accomplish this goal". When I read a lot of reviews online these days they basically come down to "If I was the target audience, good review. If I wasn't then average or bad review." And it's like it's more about the person writing the review than the movie.
