Steel is very distinct from Rock, so it was a reasonable addition. It's denser, often sharper, ductile, often lighter and more affected by the elements than Rock is. Make it weak to Electr, Acid and Ice to push this theme further.
Dark....ff....Dark. I never understood it. So it includes raging beasts and conniving critters. Ok. Evil. They are beaten by honorable types such fight., and fairy. OK. However, them beating Ghost, being weak to bugs(japan. folkore) and being immune to Psychic infers that they have passive (or excercised) magic powers. Like opposites of Fairy, in a sense. A Goblin type.
Ok. I'm cool with that, goblins can be depected as either cunning or beastly....but....b-but anon...this is not the case:

Most mono-Dark types could be Normal in Gen1. Most are just plain animals being supposedly meaner than others. Honestly, Dark and Fairy feel like crutches for the designers. Black and mean, cute n pink. Either make a clearer distinction between the magic types and their matchups, or ..you know just:
>Remove aforementioned magic themes of Dark
>fill gap with Psy>Fairy>Ghost trinagle.
Grimmsnarl was the perfect design for a pure Dark type....if dark represented what it's supposed to have been. However, any anthro-mon with some basic magical themes now has to be part Fairy.
tl;dr Steel good, needs weaknesses
Dark,Fairy overstep other types, need to be revamped.
