Who cares about the fucking story? I agree with everyone else to an extent but the story literally doesn't matter in Pokemon, it never did before gen 5 and unovaborts pretended it did, so it's hardly a negative

if you got a good pc, just emulate them via citra.
it runs okayish at 14-21 fps. they're too easy btw. you could kill the rock gym leader and his two shitmons in one turn each.
so look into the Eternal X romhack or Neo X for raised difficulty.

the region itself is okay, it's cute but Lumiose City is just absolute fucking bullshit with its idiotic blocks at first. what were they even thinking?

gen 1 and 2 have a very innocuous story that mostly isn't present. this is fine and in many cases preferable
gen 3 has a fucking retarded story that makes the game worse, BUT it's not very intrusive so you can mostly ignore it
gens 4 and 5 have a simple story driven by a couple decent characters, but it's very intrusive compared to gens 1 and 2. this is ok but many people, reasonably, prefer the unintrusive story
gen 6 has a fucking retarded story that makes the game worse AND is super fucking intrusive, so you really can't ignore it as you could in gen 3
you see how that's different?
