The worse thing happening in the series was the transformation of the franchise into a linear hallway with no difficulty pill you need to swallow fast so you can take the next one

Dexcut wasn't the worse cut, it's was the cut who has put the fire on gamefreak bullshit for all those years

Putting in more Pokemon creates an exponential problem. The more games they make, the more time needs to be spent putting each one in.

colosseum and >XD have other virtues, including actual difficulty. no question those games are linear hallways, but the battling component is much, much better (as is the writing and atmosphere in colosseum particularly). also those games are better animated and generally look better relative to the standards of their console

Am I the only one that doesn't think the dex cut would be all that terrible if they actually do rotate available mons in such a way that no one's favorite is sitting out more than a gen or two? I don't trust them to actually do that, but in theory, it wouldn't too awful IMO.

I actually suspect that's what they're going to do, the dex cut as sort of an absolute retcon doesn't really make sense given the anime/pokemon go and other side things still exist. the problem with the dex cut as is is that swosh feature absolutely nothing of value in return for fewer pokemon

Gen 1 you could do the gyms in pretty much any order you wanted after brock. With glitches, you could even fight brock last if you really wanted.
Gen 2 you could fight jasmine, chuck, or pryce in any order you wanted.
Gen 3 you can skip the 2nd gym leader.
None of the other games let you skip around.
