>>42171882My personal enjoyment of the games have always been the full package. Exploring a region, facing the league and cartoonish villain team, breeding, filling in the dex, etc. So back when the games were good in a “full package” kind of way, a lot of the newer quality of life changes had yet to be implemented. The main ones being IV and nature manipulation, but generally legendary Pokemon were harder to develop in those times in the right direction, and of course they were extremely limited in number and so you might do your best to build a special attacker Deoxys but realize that you also want a defensive one for whatever reason. I guess you could just run an unoptimized Pokemon but it always feels like shit to do so and you’ll just be suffering more than someone who’s not doing that. Now when we have a lot of these changes that let you legitimately repurpose Pokemon to suit your battle needs the overall games have gone to shit and I don’t want to play them. The balance just hasn’t been there for someone who doesn’t care about hacking in their teams.
