>>42177527What sucks is that this also lead to Gen 6 and 7 being rushed. In fact, every gen since 5 has only been three years long, as opposed to gens 3 and 4 which lasted four years. The schedule of the games would've been even more fucked had they not half-assed these games, actually.
Usually, there's a two year gap between the original versions and the third version (G/S released 1999, Crystal 2001; R/S released 2002, Emerald 2004; D/P released 2006, Plat 2008; B/W released 2010, BW2 2012). Following this logic, XY's enhanced version should've come out in 2015. But where does this leave ORAS, games infamous for being rushed? Either they get released in 2014 as they did in this timeline, and thus come out undercooked, or they're saved for 2016, a year that would maybe be suitable as it's the twentieth anniversary and you're returning to an older region. The other option is releasing ORAS in 2014, Z in 2015 (or the other way around), and then taking the year off for 2016. Instead, Gamefreak came out with SM, games that, again, were rushed as fuck.
So ideally (assuming that XY are already screwed over and come out in their present state due to the demand for 3DS Pokemon games), their schedule would've been like this
>XY in 2013>Z in 2015>ORAS in 2016>SM in 2017?Here's another problem. The Switch came out 2017. So basically, the same problem that BW faced, except it's even worse now since technically BW released BEFORE the 3DS launched in Japan. SM would've probably dropped internationally in November. And now you have a similar issue to XY; where do you even put the third version (let's call this hypothetical follow up Pokemon Prism)? Prism would have to come out in 2019 if we follow the two year gap, but that's already over two years since the Switch. Sword/Shield would have to be postponed to 2020, which would actually be good, but again, considering that every game since ORAS has been pushed back, it'd probably come out as rushed and undercooked too.
