You want good story-driven Pokémon games? Play Colosseum and Gale of Darkness (in particular Colosseum, since Wes kicks the plot off personally by betraying the villain team, making his only goal to stop their schemes) or the Ranger titles. Fuck, even Hey You! Pikachu! has a better story than any of the main games.
