i'll take the bait. random encounters are still in the game. grass will shake and if you walk into it you will have a different encounter table to the overworld encounters. some pokemon are only found in the random encounters and some can only be found in the overworld.
you can trigger the random grass by running around for 2-3 seconds and you'll hear a distinct sound at a different pitch to when overworld pokemon notice you. this helps you identify if there is shaking grass nearby. though shaking grass can occur every 2-3 seconds, it only lasts 1-2 seconds, so be quick. also, you can reset overworld encounters by running a screen and a half away. this helps to get harder to find pokemon like dhelmise with a 1% overworld encounter rate. however random encounters can also have low encounter rates too. some pokemon like psuedo-legendaries are usually 2% in the random grass and usually only in specific weather conditions. if your autism is satisfied by grinding for random encounters, then yes. it's still in the game. do note that if you can't be bothered waiting for your desired weather effect, the game is so poorly coded that you can change your date to specific dates in the year to get specific weather effects while already in the wild area mid-play. you can find this list of dates somewhere online elsewhere. this can also be done to rig/reset raids for your desired pokemon, once again with guides all over the net. and that's about everything there is to know about getting wild pokemon.
