A beat 'em up or even Musou game focusing on Pokemon that either have unconventional body shapes, or interesting gameplay possibilities, like Probopass, Ariados, or basically any of the Ultra Beasts. You could have huge legendary bosses that also become playable once you beat them, character advancement in the form of leveling, evolution, and a talent tree that gives new moves/perks, and use this as a good way to promote Pokemon that don't usually get much attention.

of course, I just think building a large scale action game with quality animations would by definition have to have a limited character roster, and lucario fit for the setting/was the inspiration for it, so if it was only one pokemon it'd have to be him. ideally you'd have a much bigger cast with differentiated movesets

Pokemon zoo management sim.
Always loved these types of games. Ever since I was a wee little autismo child I wanted to have the same experience I have taking care of animals in Zoo Tycoon with Pokemon.
Technically fits with the world considering the Pokemon Zoo in Fuchsia City.

If I had to chose only one, I'd say Snap 2, on Switch, with an open world, because the Switch is probably the best console for a Snap game.
If I have to make up a new game, what I'd like to see is some kind of medieval game where you play as a knight with a sword/axe/whatever weapon you chose that protects people from frightening Pokemon for money with your weapon and partner Pokemon (That you can change by taming a wild mon).
Now I realize that would be some kind of The Witcher Pokemon edition.

Real time combat could actually work with the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon player structure where you only have a few playable characters. In that case, it's actually feasible instead of impossible.

Side-scrolling four-player beat ‘em up akin to Scott Pilgrim / Streets of Rage / Castle Crashers etc...

Playable cast of 8 or so iconic Pokémon on a mission to protect their home planet from some Legendary going on a “destroy the world” temper tantrum or something of that nature, using some sort of dark/psychic influence to turn other Pokémon against them.

I think I'd like to see a Ranger game built more around exploration and survival. Using moves to get around obstacles in various creative ways, huddling next to a fire type to keep warm, looking for berries to recover the stamina of your mons, stuff like that.
