Did you enjoy these games?
[Here comes my opinion]
After trying my bro's copy of sword I really hated it. The more and more I played it, the more I missed Alola.
I loved the music, new league system (No gyms). Only thing I didn't like was all the cut scenes.
Even with all the fault SM and USUM had, it feels like the last true pokemon games.

SM was more neatly organised, but first 2-3 hours of gameplay are just fucking retarded and tiring.
USUM had less annoying introductory chapter, but had retarded changes to play and level 60 motherfuck with +1 to everything in the middle of pretty tame level curve. I don't hate the idea of Ultra Necrozma, but it was poorly placed, where after preparing to fight him you just blast thru rest of the game because there's nothing harder than this fight.

where are people coming from with the "straight line" or "hallway route" criticism? looking at the maps there's quite a few locations that have some sort of diverging path or places to backtrack too with ride mons to get TMs

Gen 7 is still shit, on paper they are better games than SwSh but I genuinely enjoyed SwSh more because of all the little shit about gen 7 that made me fucking annoyed with it, like the retarded story in USUM and the STUPID Rotom dex that would NOT shut the fuck up. I also hate that so much of the music has overused ukulele and that the environments are so samey.

SwSh is still mediocre though, for the record.

There are just 3 good routes in Galar, that one, the 8 and the 9. The rest is bullshit.

Everyother JRPG is going to have lots of cutscenes and dialogues, because if you want to tell a complex story you have to explain things or develop characters.

Being said that, when comparing them with other JRPGs outside Pokémon... Sun and Moon has a very little amount of cutscenes and dialogues.

But I understand that for Pokémon fans that was new.

A nice improvement would be a skip-cutscene button so people can replay the games without sitting through the story they already know or don't care about.

OP here, I actually liked SM from the start. I liked the Lilly vs Lusimine story arc with Lilly finally sticking up for her self. Again I know pokemon story isn't the best but the game play and the new additions really made the region feel comfy.
Look beleive it or not, some people who enjoy SM/USUM are long time fans (that aren't also aren't shills)

i loved ultra sun, it was a lot of fun! call me a shill but it was a great and immersive world, z-moves added another layer of strategy, and the story was pretty engaging as well. i haven't played SM so i don't have much to compare it to. i loved the side characters as well, guzma is my boy, lillie and gladion had good arcs. also so many good mon designs

Not true, the only tutorial is when they show you how to catch or whatever as always, if you want to count the school is ok, still just like 1 h of gameplay. (And let's remember Sinnoh makes you look for clowns around the first city to make you learn how the battle system works instead of battling)

Your opinion. I've had problems with Wishiwashi, Lurantis and Ribombee, and I've seen many youtube gameplays having the same problems, even problems with Mimikyu or Salazzle. And Kukui almost destroyed my team.

Literally Lusamine and Guzma are the villains making more sense in this franchise with Giovanni so I don't really understand you.

They're quite enjoyable if you're a Megafag like me but seriously it's hard to deny that it has atrocious pacing, excessive cutscenes and a mixed bag post-game (The Rainbow Rocket storyline was quite fun but the Battle Tree was complete dogshit)

Honestly there's a lot of features and changes that I like, but overall the presentation doesnt really hold to older gens, it feels like im playing fucking DP again with the pacing, and holy SHIT the 3DS can barely fucking handle any battle with more than 2 pokemon on the field

Yeah there is, because that isn't what Pokémon is about. It's simply about going on an adventure to catch and battle monsters. Additional layers of story, like stopping Team Rocket, are just incidental parts of that adventure.

Yes, because this is the core of what Pokémon is. Trying to chide me for liking that is like being mad that I like jumping on platforms and enemies in Mario games. No one cares that it has the same plot to save Peach from Bowser every time as long as there are new worlds and obstacles to run and jump through.

But you know what? It really doesn't matter how heavy Game Freak tries to go with their stories, because even in the case of one that almost fully focuses on it like SM, the story is shit. It reads like a teenager's first submission to fanfiction.net because it's full of shallow characters and the cheapest, laziest possible plot points and devices like alternative universes and big doomsday monsters. None of it is compelling to read.

If you're talking about the players in default outfits showing up in SM's festival plaza, they have been there since USUM and are all USUM players. Both games use the same online hub but the data for USUM's character customization isn't in SM, so they have default SM clothing and hair when you go to the plaza in SM.
