Why would you buy Sword & Shield when you know damn well a third much improved version of the game will come out in a year or two? Please explain it to me

Aside from the meme do people really believe that's going to be the third version? For god's sake Nintendo nor GF would never use that word. Bow, Crossbow and Spear are much believable titles.

Because we don't know if they will ever release a third version. We knew XY and SM were unfinished, but former one have no third version.
Compare to SM, I would say that SWSH definitely look finished with third legendary's alternative form already shown.

VGC (its awesome year for vgc) and I enjoy the story regardless if its shit, I enjoy the small things like finding new connections in the lore. Also the game looked alright for me and its been alright, not too happy with it but not too disappointed either, they got a lot of the things right but also a lot things wrong..

Because the game has enough content on its own. The real question is whether or not third version has enough content to justify paying for it too (Yellow, Crystal, Platinum and USUM didn't)

Save corruption with particular types of SD cards is real, dunno if it was ever addressed or not. The bricking was also real but it turns out it only affected a small number of Switches with a particular hardware defect.
