I believe that it was an interaction between the games saving to the NAND far more often than any other Switch game and a rare defect with the NAND component that caused the brickings. The reports of it were overwhelmingly coming from Japan, so it might have had something to do with the game’s language too but that’s just pure speculation on my part. The point is that it only affects a very, very small number of Switches so statistically you’ll be fine. I highly recommend turning off autosave if you do play the games though, NAND isn’t designed to be used frequently yet these games do access it quite a bit, so it’s still within the realm of possibility that it could die with several years of regular play of these games (assuming future Switch Pokémon titles don’t change how they handle NAND usage). Auto save pretty much only exists to cuck you in these games anyway so there’s literally no reason to ever have it on.
