You'll never get it because Ash has been officialy stated to be an ageless character much like Mickey Mouse by TPC and the chief director of the anime said he's eternally 10.

He's supposed to be a timeless character, so look elsewhere

They literally made Pokemon Origins (even though it was really just a commercial for Mega Charizard X disguised as nostalgia pandering) and Generations for older fans and there's also that Twilight Wings thing coming soon.

Yeah, no. In Japan, and globally, the target demo for the Pokemon series is, and has always been, 7-10 year olds.

I'm pretty sure Ash turned into a one-dimensional battle robot due to complaints over how much of a dumbass he became in BW. Complaints are the same reason that Team Rocket turned from surprisingly competent and genuinely dangerous antagonists into ineffectual jobbers and wastes of runtime for that series.

XY on Cartoon Network was pulling in roughly 1-1.5 million viewers per new XY episode from an audience of mostly children. And Pokemon reruns in Japan run on a channel literally called Kids Station. Same is the case in every single country that airs Pokemon.
