I have an inside line (kinda) and they were telling me about the work on it they were doing back in early July (before the Japanese release) and continued to mention it until September. Netflix seems to have picked up distribution rights, so we'll see where that goes. They probably thought it wasn't a good idea to theatrically release two "Mewtwo" movies in the same year.
