I see a lot of people talking about if Zoroark and Zeraora are failed shillmon. I disagree.
While yes, Zoroark didn't had a long term effect as Lucario, it still got of popular regardless and still have a big fanbase even today. I believe the real issue of why Zoroark didn't reach Lucario status is for two reason. 1. Lucario was still big and 2. it was an event pokemon. Look at how you obtained the two in their debut game, with Lucario, you can get him in the game anytime without being lockout. With Zoroark, you were lock out of it if you don't have the legendary beast with you, which you can only get from the previous games. That's very bad because you are telling players that want this pokemon, you have to buy the older games just to get this one pokemon. Not only that, it's late game material since you can't get older pokemon until the game is beat as well as the fact that it's in a location that you have forgotten since. BW2 fixes this problem by giving you one for free without any event bullshit. Later games also allow you to have one without any event. That's was the main issue with Zoroark, they treated like a legendary when in reality, they should have just treated it like a normal pokemon. Free Pokémon mean bigger fan base. Also see people talking about competitive battle, Zoroark is a good pokemon, good attack, great sp. attack, amazing speed, the only problem was that you can see if the other team have it and fairy type came into play, so that hurt it a lot.
Now for Zeraora. I can't really say this is a shillmon. Are you guys saying it's only a shillmon because it's furrylike, because that doesn't seem to work like that. To be a proper shillmon, you would have to make it available all the time and not an event mythical pokemon. And even if Zeraora was a shillmon, it have failed at being one because it's movie it was supposed to appeared focus more on the humans and treat it as a second element.
Part 2 soon.
