>Make a distinction in the game between 'regular' and 'league' battle typesIn keeping with the non-linear stuff, I think a good way to offset level scaling would be to make it so that gym/league battles are played like real-life Pokemon battles - no items from the bag, set gameplay style, everyone scaled to level 50. This way all of the official league battles are based around strategy instead of just grinding/buying until you can get past them.
>Themed gyms instead of typed onesSpecifically, themed after mechanics. I'm thinking a doubles gym, a triples gym, a sound-based gym, a weather-based gym and so on. Each gym doubles as a sort of lite battle facility after being beaten, with extra teams and medals etc
>Way more battle variety in generalIt's fucking sad but the coolest (albeit most pointless) moment in ORAS is when the evil team actually ambushes you 5v1. Give us sky battles, at least twice as many double battles, bring back hordes and even totems.
