I really hate Kalos as a region, awful areas, the whole map seems designed for the sole purpose of stalling you, annoying camera rotation, the riding pokemon were a shitty gimmick, bottom tier evil team, the least memorable rivals and gym leaders, character customization was half-assed and mega evolution as a main feature was horribly implemented (only gen6 pokemon to mega evolve was a mythical, only 6 mega stones available during the main story) and no post-game
If Z had fixed at least half of those things, the game would have probably been redeemable
Best thing it did was to change the breeding mechanics, friend safari and that's about it
