It's because they dropped out of the franchise with all the other normies after gen 4 and only picked it back up again after they realized they slept on the best generation.
All their hatred is just deep-rooted coping.
All gen 5 criticism I've heard on this board is either tiny nitpicks, flaws that the other gens have multiple times over, or just shit taste defended with a shield of "subjectivity."

I'd rather just play a fucking good game instead. Yeah, gen 5's was and still is an abomination, but the games are fucking god tier. Just grab some rom hacking tools and edit every wild encounter/trainer so that they don't use gen 5 pokemon

Did we play the same games?

I loved gen 5 because the gameplay was fast, the soundtrack was great, the story and delivery was good, the dungeons were great, it had some of the best route design in the franchise, the rustling grass patches were a great idea even if they mostly only had audinos and the animated sprites and more interesting 3D elements in the overworld helped it set it up apart from Plat and HGSS

Yes, I'm pissed that they removed following pokemons, battle frontier and the pokétch, but it's not like the other games don't commit any similar sins.
Even if BW2 was a shit game, it would still be the best pokemon game

You keep going on about Power creep, but I don't think you know what it means. Recent Gens have been kinda bad about it, but in gen 5 plenty of pokemon as far back as Gen 1 were still really relevant in meta play. You mentioned the Weather Wars, Venusaur was a monster on sun teams and Starmie was a monster on rain teams. You're getting mad because a Pokemon better than Machamp filled his niche better. Yeah, when there's 700 Pokemon there tends to be multiple pokemon capable of doing the same role. It's pretty retarded you expect a Pokemon to stay good for 20+ years. As for slow pacing, it really isn't that bad, it's touchy in spots but that's the price you pay for having a story you're actively involved with. If you hate it so much, then RPG's aren't for you. Also the gameplay isn't over complicated even slightly, it's fucking Pokemon.
