What I'm trying to say is, Japanese childrens programming always had less strict guidelines for what is appropriate for kids than in the West. Even Pokemon made mild sex jokes from time to time back in the day.
The only difference now is that Pokemon as a franchise is a globally known franchise and TPC knows it so the pokemon anime is made with international standards in mind as well, hence no more mild violence or sex jokes. (It's the same reason why you don't see as much Japanese food or culture in the show anymore as well)
That said, I'm sure it and YK's demographics aren't very different at all. The only difference is that Pokemon keeps it clean.
Either way, both are kids' shows, and there's nothing bad about kids' shows existing.
