The Lillie of Gen VIII is Sonia. Lillie exists as a sort of female traveling companion who helps your team out and has a mission to explore the lore of the Legendary Pokemon in the region. Sonia even gets involved in the post-game of her game just as Lillie did for USUM.
The equivalent of N in Gen VIII would probably be Bede, somebody who was raised by the true antagonist of the game and who wants to complete their mission by the antagonists's request. Initially they are confused and dismissive of you, but they eventually see you as a proper character by the end of the story.
