In the new climate, the Mushrooms that grow on Paras and Parasect couldn't survive, so these bug Pokemon have been able to live a normal life. However, they, themselves are now the parasites. They're nasty, violent Pokemon that are known for ruthlessly stalking other bug Pokemon for their shells. They follow around in their shadows sapping their energy until on the husk is left, which it adds to its own defences. Covered in spines that is uses to pierce on bits of discarded chitin, and just overall pretty icky-looking. Based on assassin bugs and parasitic bugs.
Everyone feels sorry for Parasect normally because of the mushroom, but if this is how they really are, maybe the mushroom isn't so bad after all.
