I've heard the same stories from some mmo buddies all across america and one dude in hawaii who also like pokemon that it's just sitting on shelves they visit, too. Not as many switches themselves, but sword and shield and the card codes just collecting dust.
For what it's worth, there's also like full cases of the pokeball plus, too, so yeah. Lgpe and its crap did *okay*, and the physical copies mostly vanished after black friday and wasn't restocked. Gen 8 is still hanging around even after christmas and post holiday return/regifting. It has to be digital.
