Maybe it's just oversaturation, but yandere Serena feels like anti-amourposting (of the shitposting variety, rather than just general boredom with shipping in general), although they often overlap, in that it just feels lazy. Write some bizarre story or comic of Ash and Serena having nightmares or whatever where the other (in the nightmare) emotionally hurts them, bullies them, says they "hate" the other, rejects their love confession cruelly, gets amnesia and forgets who the other is, etc., etc., and I'd be at least intrigued. But just "lol serena's going to murder any girl who stands within 3 feet of ash lol she crazy" stuff feels like there wasn't even any thought. I mean, if you want to do some psychological shit, then do it full-on.
Then again, I saw people writing creepypastas in 2010 during their "height," and asking them to put effort into writing emotionally or psychologically interesting content would've been a pretty big ask.
