>>42248217they are part of the humanoid group of pokemon that possess actual clothes and or objects. they are not some cartoon animal that has its natural anatomy(such has fur color, patterns and shapes) stylized in a way meant to be pretend versions of human clothes and objects. and no matter how hard you try to stretch it, machop line isnt a cartoon lizard.
example - machoke is a humanoid monster themed around strength, muscle, bodybuilding. it wears an actual belt and underwear.
incineroar is a cartoon cat themed around being a wrestler heel. its natural organic fur has colors, shapes and patterns that blatantly mimic the clothes of a human wrestler heel. same logic goes to delibird, smeargle and many others. so yeah, even a literal mime is better.
>>42248249I dont think either of those is particularly bad or great but I will say that as a starter feraligatr is lackluster when you compare it to blastoise. I still maintain that when you look at the gen 2 batch as a whole its overall really bad. In its defense its the one that was designed moreso as an expansion to gen 1 rather than a standalone group but thats no excuse if most additions are bad.
>>42248397I dont dislike it at all. Its okay to have a dragon line with a more gentle elegant nature for a different sort of appeal when theres already other designs filling the role of rough looking dragons in charizard, gyarados and aerodactyl and, even though not necessarily draconian, still going for the "badass beastly kaijuesque saurid" vibe like Nidoking and Rhydon. One of the key components of gen 1s appeal is on its diversity and the dragonite line represents something different yet unique.
