I guess I will never know because I'm a hard of hearing, has deafness in one ear and severe hearing loss in another since I was a baby. I sometime wonder that if I have actual hearings and a better childhood, I would have a successful life and won't be so anti-social or has low opinions of myself so often. Right now, I just play games all day because there's really nothing to do else for me otherwise

Without a doubt Colosseum, and the OST is super underrated too

Incredibly this Chikorota. Was going for any of the 3 in hgss but chika was what I wanted most so in a sense was what I was hunting. It only took about 150 SRs, 3 days at about 50 SRs a night

God: zoroark, medicham, metagross, milotic (a nightmare), and haxorus (an even bigger nightmare) in OR; xerneas and decidueye in USUM; greninja in XY; volcarona in B2; starters (2), ho-oh, articuno in hgss. And still some I didn't mention, these are just my most desired catches

The Gen 2 games are the most nostalgic for me, otherwise I don't really have a favorite, just favorite themes from each game not one in particular

Just found this in emerald while looking for a relicanth. Took me by surprise. On phone emulator so I cant evolve it but I have the deepseatooth which doubles its attack. Pretty cool. Timid with pretty good ivs too. Any nickname suggestions?

I consider any shiny a bonus percentage to the game, and it’s a ridiculous achievement to try and obtain a regular/living shiny dex without cheating somehow, so I technically have many.

I know you guys probably don't care about this, but I figured I'd brag on this since I'm very excited. I just found my first wild shiny since I was 10 years old, playing the fan edited half-translated Gold rom. I've been playing Pokemon my whole life and I've not seen a shiny since then (Though I did get Pokerus 4 times)

It was a shiny Stufful! I was half-paying attention to my game while breeding Pancham and I accidentally ran into a wild one, and bam: Orange Stufful with square sparkles. Very exciting!

Falinks and Sobble (pic related) Falinks took 300, but Sobble took about less than 50. In general, my intentionalmasuda method hunting luck has been great in these games so far compared to past games.

USUM mostly. I wanted to breed a shiny Froakie to fix the fact that I never owned a shiny water starter (pre Sobble obviously). I do need to finish it someday since Greninja is one of my favorites and I've been wanting to hunt for shiny frog Pokemon.

I also want to hunt for a shiny UB as well. I was thinking Kartana or Nihilego.

I also want to breed a shiny in gen 2 so I can 1. Have my first non gyarados/glitch ditto Gen 1-2 shiny and 2. Potentially have a shiny I can clone again without external stuff.

Gen 4 and 5 have solid tracks overall, although 7 and 8 has some great stuff as well

Question: When it's available (not requiring egg moves or hidden abilities), is it better to go for the wild Pokemon chain battling method rather than Masuda+charm? I'm not good at statistics so I can't really tell which is more efficient.

masuda method, it would've been knockout method if it's for mons without egg moves or HA's but because gamefreak screwed the pooch on the coding (it's supposed to be that after 500 ko's that mon would permanently have increased odds (not masuda tier high but pretty high, as it's 1/512 with charm), but because they fucked up the coding, the higher roll is at a fixed 3% chance to happen), masuda method is the go-to method for gen 8.

Game Freak fucked up the coding for gender ratios. From what I gather, all species now have a 48.2% or something chance of being female, regardless of the species actual gender ratio in past games. Only way it's easier to find a female combee is being able to see the female in the overworld (the red mark appears in the OW model), so you don't even have to encounter all combee you see looking for it.

Is it true? If so, it would explain why the first Eevee I encounter in wild was a female. But on hand other, while I was breeding starters and eevee they all have their usual gender ratio anyway.
Perhaps it's a bullshit and some people were just lucky enough to get female ones

It's true they messed up OW (and possibly RE) gender ratios, you can check for yourself by setting strong sunny weather and checking rolling fields for combee (as many F spawn as male and sometimes more F). I haven't tried breeding giftmons yet, so was unsure if the coding for genders was fucked that way.

started 2 and a half weeks ago, haven't been keeping track of how many SRs, probably over 4k now.
I'm using 2 consoles but one of them is a really old DSi. it doesn't work that well and I have to be careful not to move it too much or the game will freeze

Hatching litwicks while hunting female jellicents. I got a male shiny less than 200 kills in while I was just building up to 500. I've hit at least 800 jellicents altogether. I'm a little over 600 on litwick hatches. I guess I'm paying for my early shiny hunting luck.
On the bright side, someone in /wfg/ traded me a shiny noivern for 2 apriballs the other day. It was hatched with 5IVs, already EV trained and has HA. Cool nickname and a Galar Championship ribbon, too. It felt nice getting someone else's shiny bro.

I recently got back into SOS chaining for Shinies in Sun and have failed to get a Shiny of Pyukumuku to appear after taking a chain up to 255 on four different days now.
I'm pretty sure this is the longest fail streak I've ever had with SOS chaining for a particular Shiny.
I never had these types of problems with SOS chaining in the past, and I use to do it a lot.
I'll try again, of course, but if this happens for a fifth time I'm going to scream.

This fucker right here, for a few reasons.
First of all, I'm too much of a bitch to try my already tried and tested garbage luck at going for a Hatenna, because with the Hatenna I have I'd ideally want it to retain the 0 Attack + Speed IV's as WELL AS having its HA, and I just know I do not have the luck or the patience to pull that off, so I took the safe route by going for Dhelmise, a pokemon I really like the shiny form of and plan on using on my team too which doesn't have a HA I need to worry about. The only thing it needs, assuming I do get it will be the 0 speed IV's, and I guarantee you I won't even be able to manage that. Luck will find a way to screw me over even when it does decide to give me the shiny.

Catch or KO Yamper 500 times took a long time for me personally, and even then it still took me some hundred of encounters before I get my shiny. So if you have enough time and want a square shiny you can use this method.
MM is probably more quicker and reliable for highest shiny rate though. You also have bonus of breed a shiny with good IVs and nature, unlike wild ones.

alright so if you're doing this stuff in gen 8 I can't help ya too much, but your best bet is probably to try and find a foreign anchor or ditto, and then run your luck to breed. Masuda is how I make most of my gets, and I find chaining to be tedious, however I know in gen 8 chaining is a lot easier and more doable, so that being said, you can easily alternate methods.

Tedium is your biggest enemy, and you've got to find ways to break up the monotony, if you're worried about stats specifically, start by breeding your ideal Dhelmise, odds are you won't get a shiny like that, and if you do it's a shiny! Use it anyway for fun! Once you have your ideal stat spread then all you need to do is get yourself a foreign one if it has a gender or a foreign ditto if it doesn't, then breathe and be patient. I went through almost 100 boxes of litwick before I got my ideal one for my team in gen 7, if you're not ready to do that then this is not for you

TL:DR; yeah luck sucks but then you get lucky like this and it's amazing and that's what shiny hunting is

4: breed your boxes full
5: reset the game when you don’t get the shiny
Resetting the shiny seed is actually useful when 50% of the attempts to MM with shiny chain breed should result in 355 or fewer eggs.
