You get a cosmog if you bring your box legendary to the lake ruins. Then you can evolve it into a second Solgaleo/Lunala and use it as trade fodder.
It's a decent compromise I say, it keeps both the exclusivity and the possibility of easily getting the other box legendary.

He was thrown into a cave because he was the one that took a dump on that shitty village. Lugia is kind of like a monster, banished to a cave. Of course the anime/movies took a dump on that and made him a protector to sell tickets. But lugia was always meant to be a destructive force.

also legendaries were treated different at the time, they weren't part of the plot or some god entity, instead just creatures of legend and folklore people praise or fear.

Lugia was not originally planned. It was created for the anime and thrown into the game afterwards.

That's why, compared to Ho-Oh, it's so out of the way and lacking in lore.

All of Lugia's lore was entirely made up for the movie. Its connection to the legendary birds was never mentioned in the games, and was only retroactively referenced in the games in PMD and XY.

Ho-Oh appearing in the first episode doesn't inherently mean it existed first. But it was originally the only one. Lugia was only created for the movie and put in the game afterwards.
