>>42256631I liked some of the additions they did in gen VII, especially the Poke Pelago (the best berry farming we've ever had, as well as a nice EV training and rare items obtaining barely effort). They were genuinely great. Also, some characters like Guzma, Lusamine and Kukui are some of the funniest and most interesting the franchise has given us. The difficulty was also nice with the new Exp. Share, and the random champion or Battle Tree trainer was extremely cool and a nice shoutout to both Alola and every other region. Having Mega Stones as postgame items also was great. They could have made them findable, but being purchrasable was also neat and understandable.
On a midpoint, I think things like the Pokemon Snap clone (forgot the name), the Roto Lotto, and Festival Plaza could have been worked in a better way. They were great additions but weren't as explored as I would've liked. Regional forms were also an amazing concept and could be extremely exploited with a lot of regions and combinations, but I was extremely disappointed that just a bunch of Kanto mons got them. Poke Ride was also great, but I'd have enjoyed a lot more if they added the option to ride your own Pokemon or some Pokemon Ranger-like stuff. Island Scan was also cool, although it gets annoying to scan 10 QR codes for each mon.
The bad parts were definitively the excess of cutscenes, version-exclusive color clothes, the extremely shoved Kanto pandering on various aspects (Z-Moves, Red and Green being the only "Trainer Legends" and not being unlockable like most other characters, the Gym being a Kanto-exclusive, and so on), the lack of Triple/Rotation battles and the NERF-like Poke Ride suit, and that some Kalos stuff could have perfectly fit on Pokemon Z or somethiing. Also, the anime conections only made the multiverse theory more confusing.
And about the Ultra changes, I really liked the RR episode, Ultra Wormholes, and Mantine Surf. I think it would have been better as a $15 DLC, tho
