I'm amazed that Nidoking/queen, Arcanine, and Dragonite STILL haven't gotten any additional gimmick shilling given that they're the some of the more iconic gen 1 Pokemon.

Because sadly, everything it can do Venusaur does better, especially now since Venusaur got Weather Ball as a TM instead of only as an event move.
Also Venusaur will eventually be available in Gen 8, Victribeel, never ever.

I think the fact that he looks pretty similar to weepinbell and is also less memorable than bellsprout probably gets him forgotten more
The main issue he has is probably just that venusaur, the oddish line and exeggutor are all more memorable gen 1 grass types that get all the attention
