To be fair, Dynamaxxing/Gigantamaxxing is canonically a Galar only phenomena, I'm sure they'll retcon themselves but still worth mentioning

The best thing about mega evolutions was that a lot of them improved on the designs and made them feel like the actual final forms, i.e. Alakazam with a fucking beard and many spoons.

The Sinnoh starters are unique in that they don't need megas in terms of aesthetic. They're fucking perfect.

Except that was different. It was already implied the hoenn starters were going to get megas. The preorder bonus for XY was a torchic with a mega stone.

Swsh NEVER implied that sinnoh starters were going to get gmax forms. Only maybe venusaur and blastoise, since charizard got one. Infernape, torterra, and empoleon didn't

I'm not stupid enough to think we're getting them announced on the 9th retard. But I'm also not a stupid nigger who thinks they aren't coming (especially with screencaps of twitter trending showing there's enough people thinking about them). I expect them announced in May, especially with SS still selling so well so far after launch.

That's because they as a studio didn't place the same weight behind it as they do a core title. The fact they announced it, then mentioned the new core title would be released the following year showed they knew it didn't have the weight to carry the franchise for a year on its own, they needed to speak out and reassure people there was a trad Pokémon game inbound too.
