Want to replay these games but I'm thinking of trying out Sacred Gold / Storm Silver. Are they worth it? I can find a decent amount of info about these hacks but not a lot of reviews on whether they're worth using over the original game.

Just play it. Drayano's hacks are built on difficulty enhancements, as well as being able to get almost any Pokémon for your team before the 3rd gym. Renegade Platinum is exceptionally good - You can get ANY Pokémon you want (bar legends) before reaching lvl 20 wild encounters. It's ridiculous.

Do it but play the Classic mode or whatever it's called that doesn't have his dumb typing changes
Everything else is a massive improvement

yes but the game has challenging bosses so you have actual reason to experiment and put teams together unlike the base game

It's meant so you can build any team you want and not have to wait until the postgame to get a Beldum.

The point is to add replayability, but yes it becomes kind of dumb when there's like 12 different encounters per route.

I just finished Storm Silver and loved it. I got my ass kicked in the very first gym because I expected a regular pokemon difficulty.

Don't play his stupid "enhanced" version with changed types though

how difficult? i dont really play childrens games for difficulty. is it just a bit more difficult while adding balance where johto lacks it or is it like kaizo mario vs regular mario difference?
do i have to be someone who dedicates my life to the craft of pokemon battling to beat it is basically what im asking

it's not that bad, it just punishes you for making dumb moves. you don't need some perfectly bred bullshit team to get through or anything like that

ah thats good. i know a lot of "hard" fangames tend to make it so you need perfect iv's, natures, and egg moves to stand a chance against the gym leaders perfectly crafted teams and usually require a lot of grinding too so i'm just not trying to get into that. especially in a rom hack where you cant use the pokemon for anything else besides that one game
