It's not a good franchise, but there was few decent games and i suppose other media? Sadly the bigger it get, the more cancerous it gets. PTCi and other people responsible for Pokemon products do not need to actualy put an effort, fanboys will buy literal jar of shit with Pokemon logo on it.

This is one of the greatest moments in videogames
Pokemon took over the monster genre to the point that other monster catching games are seen as Pokemon ripoffs and are eventually crushed
Pokemon is one of the most popular franchises ever
The games do an excellent job of making the player bond with pokemon and watching them grow
The exploration is okay, at least until Unova
Designs for both the humans and pokemon are memorable and iconic

more accurately, its those things that you chime in once in a while but don't really get invested too deeply in. probably due to nostalgia or autism, focusing on what the new pokemons look like and so on. Its boring to play mainly because of the same 4 move mechanic, etc.
