What's the point of the gym challenge uniform when the players don't do any sports and just have a regular pokemon battle?

The other uniforms are only for wearing casually. You're stuck with the default uniform for all the big battles.

i might be wrong but i think you only unlock the standard uniform after beating all the gyms and stuff, and when you refight the league there is no "get changed" cutscene so it wouldn't matter after that
