I think Gen 8 spells the end for Showdown honestly. Can't have a game available to anyone that's both free and has more content than the real games.

Pretty sure gf is aware of showdown's existence. I don't remember where I heard it but I read that gf won't ever take showdown down since it isn't a full fledged pokemon game.

Because they don't run ads and don't charge money, coupled with the fact that when taken down new ones will just spring up anyways and by keeping Showdown up they make sure everyone stays in the one with no ads that doesn't charge money.

While I get what you're saying, it's overwhelmingly evident that GF's definition of "content" isn't including every pokemon. So to them, showdown doesn't have "more content".

And thank god that's how they view it, because showdown is the only hope I have in this dilapidated franchise.
