Emerald and Ruby/Sapphire aren't the same game. By far. Only nugenners think this because Platinum was based off it while being the same game as Diamond and Pearl

40$+40$=80$ (and a friend) for having full content
While for having the full Gen 8 you need
60$+60$+30$+30$+20$(for online)=the price of a Nintendo Switch lite

You could skip RS as a new player and just buy Emerald. Someone just coming to Pokemon on the switch thinking they could skip SwSh and just get the 3rd version still have to get Sword or Shield + the DLC + Online so they have to pay $110 instead of $60 for the complete game
