The RS era of pokemon is the best comparison for SwSh, not DPP

The difference is SwSh is selling you the old pokemon back as dlc along with new regions to extend the longevity of the base game. Possibly throughout the generation.
In the RS day you had to buy full game after full game to fill out the national dex.
Personally I'd rather buy a handful of $30 expansions than a handful of $60 spinoff games
