Original Rescue Team was a pretty short story campaign. It had a lot of postgame dungeons and stories, though. Felt better than Explorers in that regard.

These games are not terribly long, but i'd say they are a decent length.
Demo was 2 dungeons
Main story is 14 dungeons
And a pretty good post-game content with several quests and a lot of dungeons

How did they rescue feature work in Super?
I never got a chance to have someone save me from my fuck ups playing the original Red Mystery dungeon, looking forward to seeing how they implement saving other failed players.

Diving into dungeons with your team and trying to get to the bottom and recruiting some enemies along the way. Some post game dungeons get challenging with some reaching 100 floors deep and those that temporarily reset your level back to lv1 with fear of wiping out from a sudden monster house of enemies appearing or slowly dying of hunger because you didn't stock up enough food to last you. Story is comfy and postgame is a lot longer than the actual main story. I would just emulate Pokemon Explorers of the Sky for DS if you wanted to give one a try. Red/Blue Rescue team is also great.

QR codes. RTDX game definitely uses paid online for it, but I hope it still has passwords as well. I would be highly disappointed if it didn't.

They may add it, given it's a remake. Adding bonus dungeons is pretty standard fare for remakes/re-releases of RPGs. Aside from that, though, Jirachi's dungeon, Wish Cave, is basically proto-Zero Isle.
