Smogon banned Dyna/Giganta so they're irrelevant.
Hard to say for VGC but I will assume they'll be shit because the only thing they bring to the table is a new move that's likely to be garbage. Shell Smash isn't good in Doubles, I'll add.

Yeah most of the gmax moves that go over types that set weather or terrain are pretty good since the opportunity cost is lower.
If you really needed that weather or terrain you’d want to set it up more reliably than with your Dynamax

I guarantee Blastoise's and Venusaur's G-Max Moves' side effects will be taken from Water Pledge and Grass Pledge combinations, respectively. Charizard's is directly lifted from the Fire+Grass Pledge combo, just with higher fractional damage (1/6 instead of 1/8).

If that's so then Blastoise getting the rainbow effect will suck. It doesn't really get any moves with secondary effects unless Freezing with ice beam is the new meta. The Swamp effect with Venusaur will be pretty good though.

Until we actually see G-Max Blastoise and Venusaur it seems like a bit of a stretch to say that Charizard's G-Max Move is definitely based off Fire Pledge and not just say, coincidence. The pledge effects wouldn't be as cool flavorwise as say, a G-Max Venusaur that seeds the opponent or sets up sun, or a G-Max Blastoise that removes hazards or raises defense, but I guess I could live with them.

That would be pretty nasty. Shell smash turn 1 with White Herb while other guy sets up rocks/spikes/web. GMax turn 2 and do damage, remove hazards, and raise both defenses to end up at double level HP, +2 spa/Atk/spe, and +1def/spd and no entry hazards.
