Waiting for the third version hasn't been reliable since gen IV.
Both gen V and gen VI should have shown you that this pattern is flawed.

There hasn't been a "third version" since gen 4, you twats. Ultra changes weren't worth buying, Let's go and XY didn't get anything and BW had direct sequels that made owning the original two worth playing

I hesitated for that reason, but I would say catching up on the story and getting some of the event pokemon was worth playing White before White 2.

They also said in 2018 that they didn't think they could just cut old Pokemon from a game to make their lives easier. They also said that they had no plans to make a Switch entry when one was already in the works. Basically, don't trust anything Game Freak says.
