Game doesnt save after catching/not catching, so you can save before the raid and retry until you get it. Host has very good catch rates though

All that's saying is "when you think you're close, look at all the frames around the shiny one to see what frame youre ACTUALLY on vs. what one you THINK you're on". Like, if i catch the mon I think should be on frame 985 in this example, and the frame says it should be alll 31s and Adamant, but the one I caught is all 0s and Impish, i can then look for the row around frame 985 that is all 0s and impish and that will tell me what frame I'm really on.

Since the process is so precise, it's asking you to check your progress to make sure you land where you want to land. You can do that by looking at the rows in raidfinder that are around the one you are on, since they're set.
