>>42351302Yellow thru Platinum didn't actually really 'add' to the game so much as 'remix' it. They slightly altered the story lines, changed the Pokemon spawns around some, and sometimes added in a new gimmick like the following Pikachu. Emerald's the only one that stands out with it's introduction of the Battle Frontier, that was a whole new post game mode.
Arguably the DLC we've been promised is already going to be more than those because it can't just move around pieces of the base game, it has to be all original. Even if it's just two land masses with a Delta Episode-esque story attached, that's more than the 'best' games offered. They even already said there would be a new co-op mode, and while it might suck and be useless, it's at least as much content effort as Emerald.
Like I know nobody actually gives a shit because value-to-entertainment is subjective and Gamefreak hurt your feelings this time, but the 'definitive' versions were only good because they were the completed version the B team was able to work on while the A team was crunching on the next major release. Nothing has changed in two decades, you're just wise to it now.
