The textures in the original game are a stylistic choice
These modded textures look worse in a number of areas since they start to border too much on the "realistic textures next to/on cartoony visuals" spectrum

The "style" looks fucking awful. Like f2p MMO trash. The textures in the mod are objectively better and mesh with the "art style" perfectly.

It's most obvious in battles where Pokemon models are seen close up next to the new textures
The sharper, more detailed texture design of the background elements clashes heavily with the simplistic Pokemon design/models

It actually doesn't. Looks fine to me. If you just improved the lighting on the models they'd blend in just fine.

The fact that you say one thing and then make a completely subjective argument next is baffling to me
I should stop being surprised by how dumb people on this board are
Also, what is there to "improve" about the lighting? The way the lighting works is deliberate to make the game look like a cartoon
It doesn't need to have realistic lighting and shadows
