Try XY for a decent bridge game with many similar features. Pic may be kind of sarcastic but it's true!

For a bigger, deeper game Crystal/Gold/Silver or Black2/White2 are good.

if you want to try mainline games

also pokemon colosseum and gale of darkness are sort of mainline, but they only have double battles like in the last gym in sword
