Platinum improved the game speed, Pokemon distribution, added the Battle Frontier, the Battleground, new Move Tutors, new characters, the Distortion World, the Villa, and some story changes. Besides all of that, it’s the same game as DP but with a few new aesthetic differences like gyms have different puzzles, moving sprites, MC have new designs, etc.
The Expansion Pass adds two new Wild Area-like locations, a new Co-Op Mode, a new Battle Method, 200+ returning Pokémon, 6 new Legendary Pokémon, 3 new Legendary forms, 3+ new Galarian Variants, 2 new Gym Leaders, 5 new Gigantamax forms, new characters, 2 new stories, new Move Tutors, Apricon Farming, a new Rotom Bike, 100+ new customization options, and a new battle area unlocked after all 3 stories are completed.
Personally, I feel like the expansion pass is better than Platinum, as it adds more stuff, and even more that we don’t know about, as well as being basically an add-on to the game I already have.
