Ah i actually know this one. It's the same reason the Kalos starters weren't given Megas. They want the starters of each gen to be as marketable as possible, and pokemon are only revealed with alternate forms if it's supposed to be a part of their marketing. If they introduced a starter and gave it a gimmick superform at the same time, the original starter becomes less marketable as everyone associates it with its superform rather than its normal form. Older mons can be given new forms since they've had time to settle into their identity and giving em a new forms re-ups their marketability. This is also why we havent seen Toxtricity's Gigantimax form outside of datamines, since he's most likely the shillmon of this gen, what with you getting a free toxel and him being the mural on the hill.

You’re right, but it could simply be a good way to refer to the Galar starters more descriptively. There’s no actual language that says “your starter Pokémon will be given the ability to Gigantamax” and that saddens me when I just shiny bred a grassy surge grookey after 2 mistake hatches. Probably both things could happen, they'll give you the ability to gigantamax your own starter but also catch other specimens in raids. If they want to actually shill them never releasing the hidden abilities will be an enormous waste.

I'd say both, the DLC proly wasn't supposed to be 'this' packed, and the games definitely feel rushed (the story especially, you can definitely tell that the player was supposed to go with sonia and leon to the power plant when shit started to go down, but for some reason you're left behind and forced to simply keep going through the shitty gym challenges instead)

otherwise this was a golden opportunity for them, pun intended, to start acclimating players to the idea of paying for DLCs (like they probably already do in all the other games they play, fucking zelda included)
