They blew their load too early with Mew being the progenitor of pokemon and ruined any potential for a decade spanning mystery so they had to continously jump the shark instead. If the games made you ask questions like 'where did pokemon come from' or 'where are all the animals' , and gave you hints to the possible answers then they could garner genuine intrigue for this universe but instead they went full retard with multiverses, and isekai, and the fucking legion of doom.
