If SwSh had started from the beginning with the fulldex would you still hate it? i thought the game was interesting/fun I've never seen this much vitriol over a pokemon game before.

Not quite. This board was dominated by underage alola virgins obsessed with incineroar and Primarina for at least half a year. You still see traces of them but I think the negativity towards the new games has made them go back.

I would still complain about the map design, trainer teams, story, terrible new mechanics and removal of good mechanics.

There are legit reasons to shit on the last 3 gens and give all the good gens the flack they don't get for all the stupid shit GF put in most of them.

The game is mediocre for a 60 dollars game, they used the dex cut as an excuse to "improve the quality of the game" but it is still half assed, then they reveal the pokemon can be added back and they can actually give you decent content, but you have to pay for it.
So the games are not mediocre because of the dex, but because they can get away with it.

Games were already on a decline for a lot of us after USUM and LGPE and SWSH was the make it or break it game after Gen 7. You could already see this sentiment on the board long before SWSH's reveal but with dexit that alone would tell you the direction the series would be heading towards. Recent games have been one step forward two steps back and dexit makes that three steps back, it's just another symptom of a bigger problem with the games nowadays

The game still lacks lots of stuff and the story is god awful. It wouldn't have been as controversial if they hadn't cut the pokemon, but it still would have been a mediocre product.

It's pokemon so it's hard to hate, but I wouldn't have been in love with it.

Yes. The story sucks, the game's way too easy, exp share is forced on, no GTS, the bike suit sucks, the routes suck, the minimal postgame sucks, and it still costs $60.
