How did The Irishman, a standard realistic movie, get nominated for Visual Effects over Detective Pikachu? I dont think DP should win even if it was nominated but how did it not even get nominated?

Irishman employed state-of-the-art de-aging and aging effects on its lead characters as they get older in the film. And it looks really fucking good

Because every shot of the main actors' face in The Irishman was CGI'd to make them look 30 years younger and you didn't even notice, meanwhile every CG shot in Detective Pikachu is blatant and distracting.
