If you give it that deep shade of orange, the belly should be a pale yellow.

I've always hated how oversaturated the sprites are desu. The models are a little too far desatuated and they could do with a little sprucing up, but that much is just awful.

gen 1 promo art always used to have it red. it only became ugly when they updated all the official art to be that style in... when was it? gen 4? hgss? and then parasect was still red in mainline games anyway until xy
this parasect is infinitely more inconsistent than red parasect

What exactly is the source material? Reference sheets for older Pokemon didn't exist until the anime's designers made them, and they became the new designs for Pokemon. Sugimori's (and Ohmori's) artwork of the Pokemon is not the ultimate reference. Hell, there's plenty of errors in the artwork that are different in the games. Look at the difference between Dugtrio and its designs, and Alolan Dugtrio and its portrayals.

as valid as you think it is to say "this is what parasect is supposed to look like" because it lines up with one piece of official art, its even more valid to say thats not what parasect is supposed to look like since it originally was red and theres tons of official art to back that up
also doesnt excuse starmie and all the other pokemon and shinies too. shinies were made IN the sprite games so ruining them has no excuse
