Kind of defeats the purpose when you're entire team will have almost identical EV spreads, I thought the whole point was that it made every pokemon unique if you were unaware of the mechanic. At least the removed vitamin cap and portable boxes make it easy to avoid unwanted EVs, I guess.

We're long past that intention of "genetic diversity and varied strength". Once knowledge of IVs, EVs, and natures became more common and widespread, Game Freak just gave in and implemented convenience after convenience to get these the way you want them.

Or just use Vitamins since there’s no cap on them like previous gens. Gigantamax Meowth in the Champions Cup gets you over $300,000 each run through, enough to max out one stat. Plus Apricorn Balls and Flame/Toxic Orbs.

Really though, they add methods to EV train via jobs, make it easier to feed nutrients and with the watts exploit make it easier to afford them, and you’re gonna sit there and tell me you’d EV train in the wild knowing how god awful it is in comparison despite the EV spread issue?

This is one of my biggest gripes with the series since gen 3. Either keep it a schoolyard secret or make it an actual fleshed out mechanic. I wish they didn't keep pussyfooting for several gens about giving small incremental conveniences to this shit instead of just revamping it

They made the EV removing berries harder to get than ever, literally requiring weeks to get enough for a single pokémon, and still don't have the reset bag from gen 6.
It's obnoxious as fuck to power up Pokémon that you used during the campaign. Worse than its been in a long time.
